STINSON BEACH, Marin County — October 31, 2026. A proposed redevelopment at 15 Calle Del Mar and 108 Arenal Avenue would bring six residential units and a mixed-use building with space intended for the local post office to Stinson Beach. The proposal is under Marin County planning and environmental review; it has not received authorization to begin construction.
What is proposed?
The county’s P5985 project page describes four detached market-rate houses and two attached moderate-income homes above a roughly 1,250-square-foot commercial area planned for post-office use. Plans also include storage, parking areas, septic facilities and landscaping. All six dwellings together would form the project’s residential component, not six affordable homes.
What approvals are required?
The applicant seeks a Coastal Development Permit, Tentative Map, Use Permit and Design Review. The county says the application was deemed complete on July 31, 2026 and referred for environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act. An Initial Study will examine potential effects before county officials determine the appropriate level of further review.
Has a building permit been issued?
No, according to the current county record. Marin’s project page explicitly states that no building permit has been submitted. A complete application means that review can proceed; it does not mean the proposed buildings or post-office arrangement have been approved or constructed.
What should neighbors follow?
The site’s coastal location makes building height, water and wastewater facilities, public access and transportation important topics to review through the county’s published plans. Residents may subscribe to updates on the environmental review page. This article does not claim that a new post office has already opened.
